Hello and welcome to Enjoyneering!
Enjoyneering is a newsletter dedicated to people and project management in engineering. Through it, I share my experiences as an engineering manager since 2010.
I’m Julien Plée, currently serving as Group CTO at Signaturit Group. I joined the company in January 2025 to help streamline teams and technology following multiple acquisitions. Our engineering team consists of nearly 200 software engineers.
Over the years, I’ve worked with fast-scaling startups (Talentsoft, Synthesio, GitGuardian) as well as large enterprises (VP of Engineering at Carrefour, CTO at Ipsos). I’ve experienced different stages of a company’s lifecycle—acquiring and being acquired, rapid organic growth (+50 software engineers per year), and scaling teams efficiently.
Since 2018, I’ve been mentoring CTOs and VPs of Engineering, supported by VCs. This has allowed me to connect with engineering and product leaders across startups, scale-ups, and large organizations. These mentoring sessions are a two-way exchange where I share insights and continuously learn from diverse challenges in scaling and growth.

The “My manager’s playbook” prefix means that this article is my share of experience and my personal view on topics that are built upon the “Manager 101” skills and knowledge.
The “Striving for excellence” prefix means that this article deals with the best skills and techniques to get your team and your people to thrive at work, in my opinion. Feel free to react in the articles.
