My manager’s playbook - How to move forward on the career ladder?
Today I will gather the notes I have built about progressing on the career ladder. This is a question that I often get while coaching engineering managers in start-ups.
The principles and processes described in this article are based on my thinking and from interviews with other engineering directors. I also got some inspiration from “The Manager’s Path” by Camille Fournier, who was the first to describe a comprehensive way to build a career path in a software company.
As mentioned in previous articles, I got the opportunity to build a career path through my different experiences. The most fun was the one we made at GitGuardian with Notion as a tool, which you can find described in a previous article.
